Myopia Control with Stellest® Lenses

At Frameworks Eyewear, we specialize in properly fitting and managing Essilor Stellest lenses — advanced lenses designed to help slow the progression of childhood myopia (nearsightedness).

Myopia management is not just about stronger glasses each year. It’s about protecting your child’s long-term eye health.

Is My Child a Candidate?

Essilor Stellest lenses are designed for children who are experiencing progressive nearsightedness and want to actively manage worsening distance vision.

Stellest lenses are typically ideal for:

  • Children whose prescription is increasing year over year

  • Kids diagnosed with progressive myopia

  • Families seeking proactive myopia management

  • Children ages 6–12 years

  • A spherical equivalent refraction between –0.75 D and –4.50 D

  • Astigmatism up to 1.50 D

If your child’s nearsightedness is changing regularly, early intervention can make a meaningful difference in slowing progression and protecting long-term eye health.

Why Precision Fitting Matters

Essilor Stellest lenses are treatment lenses — and their effectiveness depends on precise positioning.

At the center of each Stellest lens is a 9 mm clear optical zone. This zone must align directly with your child’s line of sight. Surrounding it are 11 concentric rings of aspherical lenslets, designed to create a controlled volume of myopic defocus in front of the retina.

These lenslets:

  • Cover approximately 40% of the lens surface

  • Vary in optical characteristics from ring to ring

  • Deliver a continuous “slow-down” signal across multiple gaze directions

When properly aligned, this design helps signal the eye to reduce excessive growth — which is what drives progressive myopia.

Consistency & Follow-Up Are Essential

Stellest® myopia control lenses are treatment lenses and must be worn consistently to be effective. For best results, they should be worn at least 10 hours per day, a minimum of 6 days per week, as your child’s primary glasses. Proper positioning on the face is critical to maintain treatment alignment.

Because this is a long-term management strategy, follow-up care is required.

2 Weeks (with Frameworks Eyewear)

  • Adaptation and comfort check

  • Review of daily wear compliance

  • Frame fit and optical alignment verification

  • Necessary adjustments to maintain proper positioning

6 Months (with Prescribing Eye Doctor)

  • Distance and near visual acuity testing

  • Objective and subjective refraction

  • Axial length measurement, if indicated

  • Monitoring of progression

Annual Comprehensive Eye Exam (with Prescribing Eye Doctor)

  • Prescription update if progression reaches 0.50 D or more

  • Continued monitoring at 6-month intervals as recommended

At Frameworks Eyewear, we focus on ensuring the lenses are fitted precisely and remain properly aligned between doctor visits. We work in coordination with your child’s eye doctor to support long-term myopia management.
